On the morning of June 25, 2009, the pop singer Michael Jackson reportedly collapsed at a rented home in Holmby Hills in Los Angeles. He fell into a coma and died shortly after being rushed to UCLA Medical Centre. Cardiac arrest was later confirmed as the cause of his death.
On July 7, 2009 a memorial service was held at the Staples Centre in LA. Thousands attended what media outlets dubbed 'the greatest show on earth' whilst over 1 billion people are thought to have watched the service on TV screens worldwide. Many famous friends and family members took to the stage to perform their personal tributes to the king of pop.
