Introduction
ITV1 is the generic brand used by British television's biggest commercial cmpany ITV plc. The brand is used in twelve regions of the ITV Network, that previously existed under their own identities. The ITV1 brand was introduced by Carlton and Granada in 2001. These two companies merged to form ITV plc in 2004. It should be noted that outside of ITV plc, ITV is still the official name of the main channel.
