Carlton Television: Idents

Carlton Television is the ITV licensee for London and the surrounding areas from 9:25am every Monday to 5.15pm every Friday. The company is now managed with London Weekend Television as a single entity, ITV London.

1993 - 1994

Carlton's first idents featured people who lived and worked in and around London.

1994 - 1996

Carlton updated their presentation in 1994 with these rather splendid animations. Much more colourful in design, these new idents were introduced in 1994 and discontinued in 1996. There were 4 colours, red, green, yellow and purple. The red ident is seen here.

1996 - 1999

Carlton's playful side came out in 1996, when they introduced these clever animated idents.

1999 - 2002

A new look for Carlton in 1999 saw a star being added to the Carlton logo. These idents were also used in the Central and Westcountry regions under the Carlton banner. The idents were modified in 2001 to accomodate the new ITV1 branding. On October 27th 2002, regional continuity came to an end, and all regional names were dropped.

2002-2004

The ITV1 celebrity idents in use across England and Wales employed the 'Carlton' identifier only before regional non-news progrmaming.
