Scottish Media Group (SMG), the owners of Scottish TV, bought Grampian TV in 1997. Shortly following this, local continuity was centralised for both regions in Glasgow, and a lot of the Aberdeen-based staff left the station.
From 28 February 2000, a unified branding was adopted across both Grampian and Scottish, and most junctions were simulcast, without reference to the station name. Where a junction required separate announcements for Grampian and Scottish, the announcement for Grampian was pre-recorded.
All idents were used across both stations, and promos and information slides were uniform. Several of the original idents did not last the full three years of this particular look -- notably Celtic Girl, Dogs, Glitterball, Mountain, and Tea Dance.
